FAQs

  • Depending on the size of the lid and the current backlog of orders, lids can take between 2-3 weeks.

  • After an order is placed, someone will reach out to you within 48 hours to confirm the order and request follow up information. If you don’t hear anything please follow up through the contacts page.

  • Lids are made from high quality polycarbonate and are virtually unbreakable. The spline and screen are made from high quality rubber and polypropylene

  • We do not currently glue or seal in the mesh. This is to allow you to replace the mesh later if you so wish. The trade off to doing this is that the mesh can sometimes be not super tight. If you wish to have a very tight mesh screen please let us know and we can glue it where applicable.

  • Currently we do not ship to the USA and are focused only on the Canadian market.

  • If you don’t see the lid you want you can email orca.reefing@gmail.com and we can discuss options.

  • Custom polycarbonate lids are expensive because the cost of material is high and many hours are put into design and production. Polycarbonate is impact resistant, shatter resistant, UV resistant and will not warp under heat. For that reason, its the perfect material for an aquarium lid.

  • Generally speaking, you should lose very little par from the lid. You may need to increase par by a small percentage, especially if you requested a black screen. Always change your lights in small percentage changes to avoid issues with corals. ORCA accepts no responsibility for actions of customers with their reef tanks.

Light mountings may need slight adjustments when you lid is placed on as the accuracy of the placement when cut is solely based on measurements provided by the customer. We don’t guarantee perfect fitment based on customer provided measurements.

  • Yes, other customizations are possible to make but come at an extra cost that will be quoted after you purchase your lid. Some other customizations include removable food doors for nori feeding, Auto feeder customizations and more.

  • Lids should be cleaned with a microfibre cloth and RODI water. Soap and water is also fine but may leave streaks. Please do not use chemicals to clean the lid or commercial cleaners. we do not warranty lids that were damaged by commercial cleaners or chemicals.

  • The limited warranty is for 1 year from the date of shipping and covers product defects such as warping, cracking, splitting and any failure of the netting and spline.

    What it does not cover:

    • Damage to the lid caused by commercial cleaners and chemicals

    • Scratches and marring on the polycarbonate.

    • Mesh and spline detachment caused my mishandling

    • Melting or burning of the lid caused by the user

  • Unfortunately not. We get a lot of direct messages asking for further discounts. The reason the prices are so much less than the US is because we take on a lot of risk to make these lids affordable in Canada. We will however price match if you find the same lid made with the same material elsewhere.
